Gable rebuild

This gable had been very poorly rebuilt by a local contractor and contravened the listed building consent that had been issued by the local authority. We were asked to rebuild the gable based on photographic and survey evidence so that the enforcement notice could be lifted. Only the two corner posts and a pair of rafters survived, the previous builders illegally skipped everything else so we had to pretty much start from scratch. Rebuilding whole sections is something we have become known for but not only is it extreme carpentry but it is also a difficult proposition in terms of logistics as there are the existing (distorted) building lines to follow and of course fully understanding the assembly sequence is crucial to its success. On top of that we had the delicate issue of enforcement action to work within dealing with both the owner and the local authority.
