Historic Carpentry Surveys

We are able to carry out surveys of historic carpentry and prepare written reports for pre-purchase as well as to form part of a submission to a local authority for planning applications. Rick has spent 25 years absorbing the vernacular carpentry details of East Anglia and no matter what status or condition the building, each is tackled with the same level of insight and enthusiasm.

A typical report will highlight the many carpentry details that usually allow us to reach conclusions on when the building was constructed, how and when it has been altered and what likely uses it has had over the centuries. Any damage or decay will be highlighted along with how it is best dealt with and the likely costs involved.
