Rawhaw Wood, Pipewell, Northamptonshire

Hugh and Carolyn are charcoal burners and have been managing and living in this wonderful woodland site for 16 years. Having decided to upgrade from the caravan that has been their home they asked us to produce a frame that utilised natural shapes and waney edged timbers. Some of the truss components are hand hewn from oak and sweet chestnut. We had real fun cutting this frame, lots of scribed joints and real trees to work with!

Raised in the rain with a late finish the final pictures don't do justice to this wonderful building, we look forward to returning later in the project and seeing it coming together. Hugh and Carolyn will undoubtedly create a magical home in this idyllic setting.
